Liverpool vs Chelsea: Live stream and TV channel for Super Cup final in Istanbul

Liverpool and Chelsea go up against each other in the UEFA Super Cup this evening as Champions League winners and Europa League winners respectively.

No doubt Liverpool will want to recreate similar magic to the last time they had a European tie in Istanbul now over 14 years ago, but it’s a familiar foe that will be standing in their way.

This will be the first all-English Super Cup following both teams’ success over the previous year’s successful European campaign, with Liverpool edging out Tottenham in the Champions League final 2-0 in Madrid, and Chelsea putting on a dominant performance against Arsenal, which saw them beat their London rivals 4-1 in Baku.

What time is kick-off?

The Super Cup is being held on Wednesday, August 14 and is set to kick-off at 8pm UK time.

The venue for this all-English affair is the 41,000-seater stadium in Istanbul; the Vodafone Park home to Besiktas.

Where can I watch it?

You can follow the action for this match on BT Sport 2 as well as BT Sport Ultimate, which includes an hour-long build up starting at 7pm.

Subscribers to BT Sport will also have the chance to watch this game on the accompanied app which you can stream on your mobile, tablet and PC.

Team News

After Alisson picked up a calf injury in their season opener against Norwich, he will not be starting for Liverpool in goal with newly acquired Adrian being the most likely replacement. However, it might be an opportunity for young goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to get a chance for some valuable first-team experience.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have two Achilles injuries to deal with. Both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi are unavailable due to their injuries. Lampard will also be looking to make some changes from his first competitive game in charge which saw Antonio Rudiger and Willian both miss out on Sunday’s defeat at the hands of Manchester United.

Current Form

Liverpool made a near perfect start to their 2019/20 campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over Championship winners Norwich with all four of their goals coming in the first half of that game.

Liverpool are making it very clear already to the rest of the Premier League that their intentions are to finally win the league, especially after coming so close last season.

Their next Premier League opponents in Southampton will have a job to do to slow down their fast start to the new campaign.

Chelsea will be looking to bounce back after a sobering 4-0 defeat for new boss Frank Lampard away to Man United.

Albeit it is only one game, Chelsea will not want to be hanging around in the bottom three of the table for much longer, so a win in the Super Cup might just give them a much-needed boost going into their next Premier League game where they host Leicester.
