Borussia Dortmund’s teenage sensation Mario Gotze will be the subject of a bidding war between Manchester United and Chelsea this summer.

The exciting 18-year-old attacking midfielder has been a regular in the Dortmund first team this season, helping them to the top of the Bundesliga where they currently sit eleven points clear from nearest rivals Bayer Leverkusen.

With a string of sensational performances in the first half of the season, Gotze has been likened to his German compatriot Mesut Ozil who now plies his trade with Jose Mourinho’s Galacticos.

With two goals in his last two appearances, Gotze has added an attacking instinct to his game that will make him one of the hottest properties this summer as a host of clubs look to bring him to the Barclays Premier League.

The promising playmaker is just one of a number of up-and-coming young German talents, and it is only a matter of time before one of England’s powerhouses capture his signature.

Sir Alex Ferguson believes Gotze could be the final piece of the Manchester United jigsaw in his hunt for a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes.

However, he will be cautious of a bid from a Chelsea side looking to revamp an ageing squad with a view to mounting another assault on the Barclays Premier League title next season.
