Rio Ferdinand reveals his dream 5-a-side Premier League team

The Premier League has witnessed some incredible players over the years.

Since its inception in 1992, England’s top flight has attracted some of the best players from around the world.

And now it’s the league which every player wants to play in.

It’s the most watched division in the world and offers an unmatched level of entertainment.

Who wouldn’t want a piece of that?

BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand played in the Premier League across three decades, playing with and coming up against the very best.

And so who better to ask to select their dream 5-a-side team from past and present Premier League players?

That’s exactly what GiveMeSport did in an exclusive interview with the Manchester United legend.

Rio’s dream 5-a-side Premier League team

Rush goalkeeper: Rio Ferdinand

Midfielders: Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes

Forwards: Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo

Pretty good team that.

“That’s a good team that init? Is there many better teams than that?” Ferdinand boasts.

All five of the players he named were included in the Independent’s list of the top 100 greatest Premier League players of all-time.

Arsenal icon Henry was ranked No.1 ahead of former Man United players Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs.

Ferdinand was 16th, Gerrard 15th and Scholes came in at 12th.

And Ferdinand was right at the the heart of the battles.

He was there for United’s fierce rivalry with Arsenal and to see Chelsea’s successful era, kickstarted by Roman Abramovich’s investment.

And he was around as Man Utd watched Manchester City go from noisy neighbours to Premier League champions.
