Real Madrid have opened their 2019/20 La Liga campaign with a win.

Los Blancos had a poor pre-season but took the lead against Celta Vigo after 12 minutes.

Gareth Bale, recalled to the starting line-up after his move to China fell through, put in some great work in the left to set up an easy tap-in for Karim Benzema.

It looked like Real Madrid would unravel when Luka Modric was controversially sent off 10 minutes after half-time.

But Toni Kroos doubled their advantage five minutes after Real went to 10-men - and in some style.

The German midfielder picked the ball up from 30 yards and his thunderous strike struck the underside of the bar and went in.

And watch it from a different angle...

What a hit. Zinedine Zidane simply put his hands onto his head in disbelief.

That may well be the best goal Kroos has scored as a professional.

Lucas Vazquez then made it three for the travelling side with 10 minutes remaining, before Iker Losada scored a consolation goal in stoppage time.

Modric was earlier shown just the second red card of his career.

The Croatian midfielder looked to make an attempt from the ball but accidentally stamped down on Denis Suarez as he ran down the wing.

The referee then gave the red card after consultation with VAR. You can watch the challenge below:

Modric's red card proved to be one of the only negatives in what was a brilliant opening day for Zidane and his side.
