If you ask UFC star Conor McGregor why everything he touches turns to controversy, he’d probably tell you that he doesn’t go looking for trouble – he’d claim that trouble has a way of finding him.

But the staff behind a popular Irish pub in Florida aren’t buying it, and they have found creative ways of showing their disgust towards the Dublin-born fighter.

The Salty Shamrock Pub in Apollo Beach, Florida have announced a complete ban on all things Conor McGregor, after footage emerged on social media which showed the Irishman punching a defenceless elderly stranger who had angered him in Dublin’s Marble Arch pub.

Reports suggest that McGregor purchased a bottle of his own whiskey, and offered free shots to everyone in the bar.

When the stranger insisted twice that he wished to opt out, McGregor then hit the man in the head, before two others in the bar pulled him back.

McGregor’s whiskey brand, which the Salty Shamrock Pub previously sold, is emblazoned with a bold tagline: ‘Proper Irish whiskey from a proper Irishman, Conor McGregor’.

But in light of his atrocious behaviour, the Irish pub are taking a stand against that sentiment.

Bar manager Sean Rice wrote on Facebook: "Due to the recent cowardly and appalling behaviour of the so-called Irish professional fighter Conor McGregor, the Salty Shamrock Irish Pub will no longer carry his product nor associate its business with his name."

A Facebook Live video then appeared on the Salty Shamrock page, which showed staff gleefully pouring bottles of McGregor’s whiskey – which usually cost upwards of £25 each - down the toilet.

Rice continued: "We will discard his whiskey in a fashion that's only fitting to his behaviour. I challenge every Irish bar owner to do the same! He is not a true representative of the Irish people".
