Real Madrid got their La Liga campaign off to the perfect start on Saturday as they beat Celta Vigo 3-1 away from home.

Zinedine Zidane's side capitalised on Barcelona's 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Friday evening to gain the earliest of advantages in the title race.

Gareth Bale was handed a surprise start as Los Blancos showed they can still be a force to be reckoned with.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring on 12 minutes, before Luka Modric was shown a dubious red card early in the second half.

But Toni Kroos made sure the points were pretty much safe a few minutes after with a thunderous long-range effort to make it 2-0.

And in the 80th-minute, the three points were secured by Lucas Vazquez, who finished off one of the finest team moves you will see this season.

Due to the beauty of Kroos' goal, Vazquez's strike has completely slipped under the radar.

But in terms of skill and preciseness, it is by far the superior goal.

The passing is slick and accurate, Benzema's turn in the box is Lionel Messi-esque and Vazquez's finish was the icing on the cake.

After a woeful pre-season, Real fans will be elated to see their team clicking on the pitch when it matters most.

Zidane and his troops will know how important it is for the supporters to see success in La Liga in 2019/20 after a disappointing showing last campaign.

Real finished third in the table and saw Barca stroll to yet another league title, their eighth in 11 years.

But if the performance against Celta wasn't just a one-off and the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic hit the ground running when they return from injury, the sky is the limit for Los Blancos.

Next up for Zidane, a home tie against Real Valladolid.
