Philippe Coutinho has completed his move to Bayern Munich.

The Brazilian has joined the Bundesliga giants on an initial season-long loan costing €8.5 million, with an option to buy set at €120m.

Bayern will pay Coutinho’s wages in a deal that suits all parties.

Coutinho gets a change of scene after a difficult season at the Camp Nou; Bayern get a talented playmaker who’ll go straight into the starting line-up; and Barcelona offload a player who was unlikely to play much this year.

The 27-year-old was pushed down the pecking order with Antoine Griezmann’s arrival in the summer and he will relish the chance to play regularly in Germany.

And if he impresses, his move to Bayern could become a permanent one.

Which is something that Griezmann may be secretly wishing for - so that he can get his number back.

Coutinho’s presence at Barcelona meant the No.7 shirt was unavailable to Griezmann, who ended up taking the No.17.

And, despite Coutinho’s exit, the Frenchman will have to stick with No.17 for the season.

Per AS, Spanish Football Federation rules that a player must wear the same number in every official game they play in during an entire season.

So Griezmann, who wore the No.17 shirt in Barcelona’s defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Friday, is stuck with his number for 2019-20.

That’s good news for all the fans who have already purchased their ‘Griezmann 17’ shirts.

Coutinho’s departure leaves space for Griezmann, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele to shine up front for Barcelona this season.

The former Liverpool attacker expressed his delight after securing the move.

“For me, this change represents a new challenge in a new country at one of the best clubs in Europe," he said, per BBC Sport.

"I am really looking forward to this. I have big goals, like Bayern, and I'm sure I can do it with my new team-mates.”
