Corinthians Feminino is the first professional women's team to match record for consecutive wins

Corinthians Feminino

Corinthians Feminino has equalled the world record for the number of consecutive wins in top-flight football with 27.

The Brazilian women's team based in Sao Paolo secured their world record with a 4-0 win at home against Ferroviaria in the Serie A1. They are currently tied on 27 with world record holders, The New Saints, a Welsh team who set the record in 2016 and play in the Cymru Premier.

The team's winning streak began on 26 March and since then they have scored 95 goals and conceded just eight in a remarkable run of form.

Corinthians have the opportunity to become the sole record holders on Wednesday as they play Sao Jose, sitting in eighth place, 20 points behind the record holders.

The impressive run Corinthians have displayed this season is not unprecedented and the league-holders look set to continue dominating their Brazilian opponents on their way to a third successive title.
