Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester United - Premier League

Manchester United would have gone top of the Premier League with a win against Wolves at the Molineux on Monday night.

However, they had to settle for a point following Paul Pogba’s second half penalty miss.

Anthony Martial had given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side the lead before the break with a terrific left-footed finish inside the box.

However, Wolves equalised with a similarly terrific strike. Ruben Neves collected the ball outside the box and placed a beautiful effort in off the underside of the crossbar.

Both sides were now going for the win but with a little more than 20 minutes remaining, Paul Pogba was brought down in the penalty area by Conor Coady.

Pobga stepped up but saw his powerful spot-kick saved by Rui Patricio.

Neither side could force a winner, leaving Pogba and United ruing that missed penalty.

However, that’s absolutely no excuse for the racial abuse the World Cup winner received on Twitter after the match.

According to both the Mirror and The Sun, Pogba received racial abuse on Twitter following his penalty miss against Wolves.

The Mirror claim one post read: "Pogba you f**king n*****”, while another said: "Pogba is a n*****.” Another disgusting post read: "Pogba... you f**king fat m***** looking n*****..”

The Sun back that up and list more examples of the messages that they saw on Twitter last night.

One sick post even threatened to “kill that b****** f**king gorilla."

It’s their third time in a week that a footballer has been racially abused on social media.

Last Wednesday, Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham was subject to racial abuse after he missed a penalty in the Super Cup against Liverpool in Istanbul.

On Sunday, Reading midfielder Yakou Meite exposed an online troll who called him a f**king monkey after his side’s 3-0 win over Cardiff.

Something really needs to be done to stop these racists from posting abusive posts on social media because it’s simple not acceptable in 2019.
