It has been confirmed that Steve Smith will play no part in the third Ashes Test due to the concussion he suffered earlier this week.

The Australian talisman, who is the leading run scorer in the series so far, will play no part in the Test in Leeds due to the injury sustained at the hands of Jofra Archer.

The pace bowler, who ruffled a couple of feathers with his deadly pace, caught Smith in the neck area during Australia's first innings at Lord's.

Smith was forced to leave the field of play to receive checks from the medical team, before returning to the stumps around 40 minutes afterwards.

However, it was very clear he was not the same batsman as he was before, and he lost his wicket on 92 after being trapped LBW by Chris Woakes.

It was then announced the following morning that he would play no further part in the second Test after he woke up feeling dizzy and was suffering from headaches.

Despite missing the second innings, Smith spoke about his condition and said he was optimistic he would be fit enough for the third Test at Headingley, however, that is no longer the case.

With Australia leading the series 1-0 after the draw at Lord's, England will be hoping they can make the most of an Aussie side without their star batsman as they look to tie up the series.

The third Test begins on Thursday and will end on Monday.

As of writing this article, it hasn't been confirmed who will be replacing Smith in the Aussie line-up, but his replacement in the second Test, Marnus Labuschagne, put himself in good stead after knocking 59 in his innings.
