The landscape of the UFC's heavyweight division was shaken up on Saturday night as Daniel Cormier's year-long reign was ended.

And it was stopped by the very man who he defeated in July 2018.

Stipe Miocic may have lost his belt in Las Vegas to DC, but in Anaheim he regained it in brutal fashion, stopping Cormier with a flurry of punches and the referee decided he could no longer continue.

No-one knows what is next for the 40-year-old Cormier, and even he doesn't have a clue himself.

Retirement could be on the horizon, and it's left number-one contendership to Miocic's belt wide-open, with Francis Ngannou probably the first in-line.

As for DC, Dana White wanted to see a trilogy fight between him and his arch-nemesis Jon Jones, ideally at heavyweight, but 'Bones' has not been so keen to step up a weight class, especially as he's so dominant at light heavyweight - Cormier similarly wants a third fight at the 205-pound weight limit.

One man who does want Jones at heavyweight though is the 'retired' Brock Lesnar - that is according to WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.

The 1996 Olympic gold medal winner joined Ariel Helwani's MMA Show yesterday and admitted that Lesnar would probably only return for that fight.

“I hope he does return. I know he said he was retired, but I think the one fight he wants, and I don’t know if it will happen, but he wants to go up against Jon Jones,” Kurt told Helwani, per MMA Mania.

"I think that would be an extraordinary fight. They are very different. Their sizes are completely opposite, but Brock’s a freak.

"He might not win all of his fights, and he may not be the more polished fighter, but he is an incredible athlete."

And what was Jones' response to Angle's claim?

"Brock is way too slow, I’ll embarrass him," a tweet from Jones' official Twitter account read.

So Jones thinks that particular fight would be easy money - and it would make a TON of money - why not make it happen then?

Lesnar says he's retired but we have heard no news of him dropping out of the USADA testing pool, and until he officially does so we cannot believe he's retired for good.

Pay him Dana, you know it makes sense!
