Conor McGregor congratulates Nate Diaz for UFC 241 win and teases third fight

UFC 202: Diaz v McGregor 2

Conor McGregor is motivated to get himself back into the Octagon after watching Nate Diaz win at UFC 241 over the weekend.

Diaz defeated Pettis via unanimous decision after five rounds at UFC 241 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

He was dominant throughout despite the unanimous decision, earning judges scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 for his performance.

This was also his first fight since facing McGregor at UFC 202 in August 2016, and his first win since he fought McGregor at UFC 196 in March 2016.

It looks like Notorious watched his rival compete at UFC 241 last weekend, as he had nothing but praise for him when talking about him recently on social media.

The former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion added as well that Diaz' win motivates him to return to the Octagon.

McGregor said: "3 years to the day myself and this Mexican animal went to war. Congrats on the win this weekend Nate, it was motivating to see it for my own comeback.

"I don’t blame you not mentioning me for the trilogy bout post fight, you know what I’m like when I get going. Vicious.

"I loved the round 3 style from round 1 that you implemented. It’s what I was hoping you would implement for this bout and was glad to see you do it.

"I’ll be prepared for it when we go again. If we go again. If not, respect always. A war for the ages. No b---h talk. Just real s--t."

While it looks like McGregor is up for a third fight vs Diaz, Diaz doesn't seem to be in the same boat.

Following his win vs Pettis at UFC 241, Diaz called out his possible next opponent, Jorge Masvidal, during his post-fight interview.

Masvidal was in attendance at UFC 241 and was seen smiling from ear to ear when Diaz mentioned his name, so it looks like he wants the fight to happen as well.

If not Masvidal, the next logical fight for the 34-year-old would have to be completing the trilogy of fights between himself and McGregor, which currently stands at one apiece.
