Manchester United players’ Fantasy Premier League teams have apparently been discovered

Manchester United v Chelsea FC - Premier League

The popularity of Fantasy Premier League increases year on year.

A remarkable 6,280,930 teams have been submitted for the 2019/20 season at the time of writing - the highest number of teams ever entered.

You and your mates have probably all got teams and compete in your own mini-league. And it’s no different for Premier League footballers, it turns out.

Per a post on Reddit, somebody has discovered that Manchester United players have their own FPL mini-league.

Nine of the squad have apparently entered teams including Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw and summer signings Harry Maguire and Daniel James.

The mini-league name is called ‘The MUFC Tiki-Taka Fantasy’ which is quite ironic.

United fans have seen very little tiki-taka during the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, that’s for sure.

Chris Smalling

Top of the league with 138 points is Smalling, who boasts the best team name - they’re all quite unimaginative and disappointing, to be honest - with ABCDE FC. Classic.

Smalling has blown his budget on his midfield, forking out over £40 million on Raheem Sterling, Anthony Martial, Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.

He hasn’t picked himself but has gone for teammates David de Gea and Mason Greenwood (bench).

Phil Jones

Next up is Smalling’s partner in crime Jones, who has 126 points.

And like Smalling, Jones has gone big on his midfield, with Salah, Sterling and Sadio Mane all getting a place in his XI.

Ruben Neves is also there, which feels a bit awkward after what happened on Monday night.

Oh, and so too is Rui Patricio, the man who saved Paul Pogba’s second-half penalty.

Luke Shaw

Shaw has gone for Aaron Wan-Bissaka over himself in defence, which is a bit surprising.

His defence is pretty terrible, Wan-Bissaka aside, with the vast majority of his money going on his midfielders and forwards.

Joel Pereira

A solid team, this.

Notice that Joel has gone for his namesake Andreas Pereira in midfield.

Harry Maguire

Slabhead still lists himself as a Leicester City fan but he doesn’t have any of his former teammates in his squad.

He has two of his current teammates - Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford - and chose Salah as his captain for Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Southampton.

Ashley Young

‘SKIPS FC’ - Youngy reminding everyone that he’s now Man United’s captain.

The 34-year-old had both Neves and Joao Moutinho in his team this week. Awks.

He doesn’t have a single Man Utd player.

Lee Grant

Yes, Grant is still a Man Utd player.

The veteran goalkeeper has gone for Brighton’s Matt Ryan in between the sticks but has included three of his United teammates in his team: Wan-Bissaka, Martial and Rashford.

Andreas Pereira (apparently)

United fans on Reddit are convinced ‘Tiki Taka Legend’ belongs to Pereira, who has selected himself as his third sub for the current Gameweek.

The 23-year-old also has Wan-Bissaka and Martial in his XI but went for Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as his captain this week.

He has three City players - Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus - but nobody from Liverpool.

Daniel James

Not sure about ‘DJtalent’ as a team name, Dan.

The Welshman is currently bottom of the United players’ mini-league with a disastrous 72 points from the opening two Gameweeks.

James has selected himself in midfield (love the confidence) along with teammates Maguire and Rashford.
