Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted Ferrie Bodde will struggle to play again this season.

Bodde has been struggling with a serious knee injury over the past two years and Rodgers has warned that even if he does overcome his injury before the end of the campaign, he still may not get a place in the side.

Rodgers told This is South Wales: "I think it will be difficult for him to play this season."

He added: "For one you have to consider how long Ferrie has been out. It will be difficult for him to get up to match speed - and to get into the team.

"I will not just throw the players who have got us where we are to the garbage.

"They have been fantastic, so I think the reality is that it will be difficult for him."
