Vincent Kompany ended his Manchester City career this summer after 11 successful years at the Etihad Stadium.
The Belgian defender, who was appointed as Anderlecht’s player-manager in May, will always be remembered as one of the greatest Premier League defenders ever.
He will also be remembered as one of the great Premier League captains.
Kompany won a host of major honours during his spell at the Etihad including four Premier League titles, four League Cups and two FA Cups.
He won the league in his final season with City, scoring one of the best goals of the season in a vital 1-0 win over Leicester City towards the end of the campaign.

Kompany start to life as Anderlecht’s coach has been disappointing - the Belgian outfit currently sit 13th in the table with two points from their opening four games - but there’s an international break coming up in a couple of weeks, offering the City legend a chance to take a breather before going again on September 15.
Four days before Anderlecht’s fixture against Antwerp, Kompany will be back in Manchester for his testimonial.
Testimonials can sometimes be a little dull, but this one promises to be anything but.
It’s been announced that Kompany and a team of Man City legends will take on a Premier League All-Star team.
The Premier League All-Star team features a number of household names including Edwin van der Sar, Paul Scholes, Cesc Fabregas, Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie.
“Edwin van der Sar, Gary and Phil Neville, John O’Shea, Wes Brown, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie have all agreed to play in the team that Belgian manager Roberto Martinez will lead,” a statement on City’s website confirmed.
“Monaco’s Cesc Fabregas will also be involved, joining the already-confirmed Emile Heskey and Rafael van der Vaart.”

Acknowledging the fact that most of the Premier League All-Stars are ex-United players, City’s statement continued: “the inclusion of so many ex-United players is testament to the impact Kompany has had both on and off the pitch in his adopted city.”
As for the City legends team, fans who turn up to watch the testimonial can expect to see the likes of Joe Hart, Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Mario Balotelli in action.
“Earlier this week it was confirmed that Mario Balotelli will be involved, while Sergio Aguero and David Silva, who Kompany enjoyed so much success with, will also play a small part in proceedings,” City added.
“They’ll be joined by: Joe Hart, Shay Given, Gael Clichy, Aleks Kolarov, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Pablo Zabaleta, Dedryk Boyata, Wayne Bridge, Richard Dunne, Nigel de Jong, Samir Nasri, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Stephen Ireland and Craig Bellamy.”
