Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield on Saturday evening for the Premier League's standout fixture of the weekend.

Both sides have collected maximum points from their opening two league games, the only two teams in the Premier League to do so.

It promises to be an enthralling game, with Arsenal desperate to give a better account of themselves this time around after losing 5-1 at Anfield in 2018/19.

Unai Emery's side will arrive on Merseyside with some fresh new faces, most notably £72m summer signing Nicolas Pepe - who is set to make his full debut for the Gunners.

Alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal now boast an attacking trio similar in quality to Liverpool's famous front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

And Aubameyang has stated in an interview that he believes Arsenal's trio have the capabilities to mirror the quality of Liverpool's.

He told Goal: “I see a lot of similarities. Pepe and me, we are quick players like Mane and Salah, while Laca is a player who can keep the ball and is really good with his feet like Firmino. So yes, we can say we are close enough.”

With that in mind, how do the two attacking tridents compare? Well, we've compared all their stats from 2018/19 and it's the Arsenal boys who lead the way.

ARSENAL - 72 GOALS, 28 ASSISTS

Aubameyang - 30 goals, 7 assists

The Gabonese striker was joint top goal scorer in the Premier League alongside Salah and Mane with 22 strikes to his name.

He also added eight more in the Europa League in just 12 games.

Lacazette - 19 goals, 10 assists

Not as prolific as his strike partner, but 13 goals in the Premier League is still a decent number, especially when you consider he registered eight assists as well.

The Frenchman also scored five times in Arsenal's run to the Europa League final.

Pepe - 23 goals, 11 assists

What a season the Ivorian had at Lille in 2018/19.

No player in either front three recorded more assists than Pepe last season.

LIVERPOOL - 69 GOALS, 18 ASSISTS

Salah - 27 goals, 10 assists

Tied with Aubameyang on overall goal involvement, Salah enjoyed yet another remarkable season with Liverpool.

He also has a Champions League winners medal to show for his efforts...

Mane - 26 goals, 1 assist

Last season, Mane transformed himself into an elite goal scoring machine.

But don't let the assist stat throw you, as any fan will be able to tell you how crucial he was in the build-up to many Liverpool goals.

Firmino - 16 goals, 7 assists

Like Mane, Firmino's numbers from 2018/19 don't really do him justice.

He still managed 12 goals in the Premier League, adding another four in the Champions League.

So there you have it. Liverpool's front three may have secured club football's biggest prize in 2018/19, but Arsenal's trio outshone them statistically.

Now they've just got to outdo them at Anfield...
