Riyad Mahrez’s wife has sparked outrage after being filmed driving on a motorway with her feet on the dashboard.

The video - which is quickly going viral - shows Rita Mahrez smiling at the camera with her vehicle in cruise control.

The car is believed to be a Mercedes Jeep and is in the middle of a motorway, while other cars can be seen overtaking her.

The mother of two uploaded the video onto her Instagram story and has been slammed as ‘dangerous’ by one witness.

"She could have killed someone,” a witness told the Daily Mail.

“It was so dangerous. It needs exposing. She clearly thinks she can do whatever she wants and to hell with the consequences.

"She was putting every single person on the road around her at risk."

Motor organisations have also called her out.

A RAC spokesman said: "Regardless of how routine driving might feel for those of us that do it regularly, it remains a very mentally demanding task, and one that every driver needs to pay their full attention to.

"This driver would clearly be unable to stop in an emergency if needed – the consequences of which could be tragic."

And Edmund King, AA president, said: "Until the advent of fully autonomous cars drivers need to keep their feet on the floor with easy access to the pedals. In the event of an emergency this driver would not be able to stop.

"This driver could easily incur penalty points without the need for VAR."

Rodney Kumar, spokesman for IAM RoadSmart, added: “Driving in this way is downright dangerous and could have led to a tragedy for not only the occupants of this car but other people on this motorway.

"Posting a video like this to social media only makes it worse, as it shows a callous disregard for the welfare of other innocent road users – this video is nothing to be proud of, and utterly shameful.”
