Liverpool's Champions League semi-final triumph against Barcelona last season will live long in the memory.

The Reds needed a big performance at Anfield after losing the first leg 3-0.

And they managed to produce a superb display in the second leg to miraculously make the final.

Divock Origi's early goal gave Liverpool hope, before Georginio Wijnaldum's second half brace restored parity.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's incredible improvisation from a corner then led to Origi's winner.

It was one of the best games in Liverpool's history and will be remembered for many, many years to come.

Virgil van Dijk participated in it and it's no surprise that he thinks it was the best game he's ever played in.

The Dutch defender revealed his answer in an interview with talkSPORT.

Van Dijk was then asked what was the best game he's ever watched.

And Van Dijk couldn't resist saying it was again the Liverpool game.

Q. Greatest game you’ve watched
A. "I watched the Barcelona game back."

Quality. Van Dijk's performances on the pitch combined with his personality have gone down a treat with Liverpool fans.

It's answers like these that explain why the fanbase adore him so much.

Van Dijk described the game as 'nuts' when reflecting on it back in May.

"I could not sleep much [after Barcelona], maybe two hours," the defender told the Guardian. "It was totally crazy.

"From the moment we arrived at the stadium, you had the feeling it could be something special. When Divock Origi scored that early goal, you could feel the belief. Everything was perfect that night.

"It wasn't like we had luck. We totally deserved it because anyone would say a team 3-0 down against Barcelona is not going to do it. Messi's going to score - and if they scored one, it was almost impossible.

"But we did it. It was nuts. You can't really describe it."
