Scoring an own goal is one of the most embarrassing things you can do in football.

It can happen to anyone, whether it's misjudging a header or deflecting the ball past your own goalkeeper after trying to block a shot.

There's nowhere to hide when you score an own goal and two people who know a bit about finding the back of their own net is Richard Dunne and Jamie Carragher.

Dunne, who played in the Premier League for the likes of Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa, holds the record for most own goals scored with 10.

Carragher is joint-second on seven and scored all of them for Liverpool, which to this day he's mocked for by Gary Neville.

His old teammate, Martin Skrtel, also earned a reputation for scoring own goals at Liverpool, as did Wes Brown, Phil Jagielka and Ryan Shawcross.

So if you've ever gone through the humiliation of scoring an own goal, don't worry, because you're certainly not alone.

But some are more embarrassing than others and a video is doing the rounds on social media of a poor bloke scoring one of the worst own goals we've seen.

In the footage, which comes from Sydney in Australia, the lad goes to clear the ball after his goalkeeper saved a penalty but kicks it into his own net with his standing foot.

Just, how?

It's hard not to laugh and what's even funnier is the person filming shouting "YESSS... OHHH NO!" when the penalty is saved and then the own goal is scored.

His teammates are never going to let him live that down.
