As far as transfer sagas go, Neymar’s potential departure from Paris Saint Germain has to take the cake.

It all seemed set in stone as last season drew to a close - everyone just assumed the Brazilian would complete a move back to Barcelona with relative ease.

However, much like his time in Paris, Neymar’s transfer plans really have not gone according to plan.

PSG have proved to be extremely hard to negotiate with and, having shelled out a world-record fee for the 27-year-old, you can hardly blame them.

Throw into the mix a late-charge from Spanish rivals Real Madrid and you can begin to see why Neymar’s future is still completely up in the air.

At times he’s looked absolutely certain to return to Catalonia and at others, the Bernabeu has been calling.

The question remains though, who needs him more?

There is no doubting that Madrid are still trying to fill a gaping Cristiano Ronaldo-shaped hole in their team and Neymar could be the man they are looking.

With that in mind Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has had his say on the Brazilian, naming him as one of the best three players in the world.

Neymar is a TOP player, for me, one of the top three players in the world.

Interesting.

Does he really mean it, or is it all part of an elaborate strategy to knock the Brazilian off of his Barcelona bound trajectory?

Time is running out for Neymar to find a new home but we could be in for quite a number of twists in this one as the transfer window hurtles towards its close.

No one, possibly not even Neymar himself, knows where Neymar will end up.
