Wesley Sneijder will be remembered as one of the best midfielders of his generation.

The Dutch midfielder played for some of Europe’s top clubs during his 17-year career, winning plenty of major honours in the process.

He was also the star man in Inter Milan’s treble-winning campaign of 2009-10.

Sneijder also scored 31 goals in a record 134 appearances for the Netherlands national team and was a World Cup finalist in 2010.

He ended his career aged 35 after scoring 18 goals in 29 matches for Qatar-based Al-Gharafa SC.

Some footballers like to keep themselves in top physical condition even after they retire.

David Beckham, for example, still looks in tip-top shape six years after hanging up his boots.

And you can just tell that it’ll be the same with Cristiano Ronaldo (if he ever retires, that is!).

Others, however, end up enjoying the fruits of retirement and let themselves go a bit.

But why not, eh?

Sneijder, it would appear, unquestionably falls into the second category of retired ex-footballers.

Footage of the Dutchman attending Utrecht’s Eredivisie clash against VVV-Venlo this weekend have gone viral on social media.

Check it out here…

It’s hard to believe that it’s only been two weeks - TWO WEEKS - since the Dutchman called it a day.

Sneijder also took part in a friendly clash on Saturday for Holland’s ex-internationals against amateur side DHSC and, again, you can clearly see that he’s enjoying his retirement.

Retirement lasts a long time, Wesley, so pace yourself!
