Barcelona needed a win against Real Betis on Sunday after losing their opening game of the season to Atletic Bilbao. And it looked as if they would drop points again after Nabil Fekir gave the visitors a surprise early lead. But Antoine Griezmann inspired his side to their first three points of the season. His brace, along with goals from Carles Perez, Jordi Alba and Arturo Vidal meant Barcelona romped away to a 5-2 victory. It was a special day for summer signing, Junior Firpo.

The 23-year-old defender joined Barcelona from Betis in a £16m move.

And he would make his debut against his former club, as he came off the bench with nine minutes of normal time remaining.

Barcelona decided to capitalise on the crushing win by posting an image of Junior on Twitter of him holding his hand up to symbolise the five goals they scored on the night.

Along with the image they posted the caption 'Junior knows' followed by a winking face.

However it didn't go down as well as the admin would have hoped.

After backlash from supporters, Barcelona issued an apology for the tweet on Monday.

"@FCBarcelona wish to sincerely apologise for any offence caused to Real Betis and their supporters regarding a tweet sent out on Sunday evening," they wrote.

"No disrespect was intended, but we were wrong to publish it on a night that was very special for Junior."

The original tweet remains available to see and has not yet been deleted at the time of writing.

Junior took to Twitter to express his pleasure of making his debut against his former side.

He wrote: "Very happy to play my first official match with FC Barcelona and for knowing the environment of my new house and for the victory.

"This moment was special for me."
