Lisa Leslie, basketball legend, has been awarded the Coach of the Year accolade in the Big3 league.

The award comes after Leslie led her team, the Triplets, to the top of the table in her first season as coach. She becomes only the second woman to win the honour. Last year Nancy Lieberman was the first woman to scoop the prize having led her team, Power, to the top of the league.

Leslie is one of the most successful female ballers in history as an eight-time WNBA All-Star, three-time League MVP, two-time champion and 2015 Basketball Hall of Famer. Now she adds Coach of the Year to her resume.

The Triplets, who currently lead the league 7-1, will face second-placed Killer 3's this Sunday and will be led by their top-scorer Joe Johnson.

"BIG3 is proud and humbled to have such legendary basketball players as part of the league. Lisa and Joe have put in the work each and every day this season and the results speak for themselves," BIG3 co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz said in a release. "Now we can't wait to see if they take home the biggest prize against Killer 3's on Sunday."
