Outside the Premier League, much of English football is on its knees.
Bury's sad plight came to a head on Tuesday when it was confirmed they had been expelled from the Football League.
The lights went out for the final time at Gigg Lane - but there was some more positive news across Lancashire at Bolton Wanderers.
The Trotters were in danger of following Bury down the same path having been in administration since May.
They were hit with a 12-point deduction at the start of the season and manager Phil Parkinson recently left the club.

With so few senior players on the books, an uphill struggle remains on the horizon.
However, it was confirmed on Wednesday that Football Ventures (Whites) had agreed a deal to buy the beleaguered club.
Bolton's immediate future has been secured, which is fantastic news whoever you support.
A £10million deal has been sealed by a consortium reportedly involving Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason.
Nobody wants to see a football club experience what Bury have been through, not least the Shakers themselves.
Bury's Twitter account even sent a message to Bolton congratulating them on the takeover. That takes an awful lot of strength in the circumstances.
It reads simply:
"Everyone connected with #buryfc are delighted for all supporters, staff, players and anyone else associated with Bolton Wanderers that the takeover has been successful #footballfamily"
While Steve Dale has sadly run Bury into the ground, there is now hope glimmering at the University of Bolton stadium.
Although Bury are considering one last-ditch attempt to take the EFL to court for blocking a £7million rescue bid from SJ Global, the governing body insist there is no appeal process.
That brings to an end the club's 125-year membership of the Football League.
Amidst all this, we can only hope this marks a turning point for Bolton as they battle to get back on track.News Now - Sport News
