WWE officials have been in talks with former RAW Tag Team Champions Enzo Amore and Big Cass over a controversial return to the black and yellow brand, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

With NXT moving to the same network that airs Monday Night RAW, WWE is in search of big names that could increase viewing figures as they prepare to go head to head against AEW on Wednesday nights.

While NXT is almost completely under Triple H’s control, reports have surfaced that Vince McMahon instigated the talks with Cass and Amore and wants the duo to become a key part of the next phase of NXT.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated the following in their latest issue: “WWE has been in contact with Enzo and Cass about a surprise return to be top stars on the NXT brand.

"We don’t know if they’ve accepted, but Cass really hasn’t done much on the indie scene and has also made clear he wants to get back.

“Enzo, who really knows? He says a lot of things but his rap career isn’t exactly going anywhere and he also hasn’t done much on the indie scene, but hasn’t walked away from wrestling either.

"We don’t know, but the obvious speculation is either a return on the first show or, the way Vince thinks, I could see the third show being the favourite.”

Former Cruiserweight Champion Amore was suspended from WWE on January 22, 2018 due to sexual assault allegations. As a result, his scheduled title defence against Cedric Alexander at the Royal Rumble was cancelled and he was fired from the company the next day.

WWE released Cass from his contract on June 19, 2018 due to behavioural issues, including public intoxication during a WWE tour and disobeying orders from McMahon on a regular basis.
