Mauro Icardi's situation at Inter Milan has taken another twist.

According to sensational reports from Italy, the Argentine striker is suing his club.

Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Icardi is demanding £1.4 million and immediate reintegration into training with the first team.

Inter coach Antonio Conte has excluded him from pre-match tactical exercises and mini-matches over the summer, but the player has been taking part in general sessions with the first team.

The same report states that Icardi is determined to stay in Milan and wants to be fully integrated with his teammates once again.

However, club bosses appear to be pushing for the opposite. The arrival of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United means Inter are well covered up front.

In fact, Sanchez could even take the number seven shirt from his fellow South American, which would add further insult to injury.

It's believed that the Nerazzurri are urging Icardi to simply move on, with the likes of Juventus, Monaco and Atletico Madrid interested earlier this summer.

But with the European transfer deadline closing in, it's unlikely he'll complete a move before the window closes on Monday.

The forward's decision to sue is certainly a last resort, and it's one that has surprised Inter.

Milan have reportedly acted 'very carefully' to avoid their former hero having any cause to do so.

And according to sports lawyer Mattia Grassani, the club have no case to answer.

"It doesn’t seem correct to me to suggest any athlete has a right to take part in preparatory matches or tactical exercises, no matter what," he told Corriere dello Sport, per The Sun.

"It would clash with the notion of the coach having complete autonomy when he takes charge of training sessions."
