Unai Emery has overseen another summer of transition at Arsenal. A total of 15 players have quit the Emirates, including loan deals. Some of those departures have been relatively low key, but numerous first teamers have also left. Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck, Alex Iwobi, Stephan Lichtsteiner and of course, ex-captain Laurent Koscielny all moved on from north London. The latest exodus has seen Nacho Monreal and Mohamed Elneny head for Real Sociedad and Besiktas respectively.

Naturally, all that has been offset by some exciting arrivals, such as club record winger Nicolas Pepe, the immensely promising Kieran Tierney, and the borrowing of Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid.

However harshly Emery may be judged in his second season, it should be taken into account that he is still putting his stamp on a squad that was neglected for a long time.

In fact, in just two short years dating back to Arsene Wenger's reign, Arsenal's line-up has changed dramatically.

The squad that won the 2017 FA Cup final against Chelsea - the Gunners' last major honour - has been decimated.

So much so, in fact, that journalist Daniel Storey points out that just four players from that matchday squad remain.

Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka are the quartet who still don the red shirt.

David Ospina, Per Mertesacker, Monreal, Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin, Francis Coquelin, Alexis Sanchez, Elneny, Welbeck, and Giroud all featured that day.

Lucas Perez, Theo Walcott, Iwobi, and Cech were left on the bench.

That's a remarkable amount of upheaval, some of it welcome but some forced by the likes of Ramsey being allowed to run down his contract.

Where does it leave Arsenal? Judged on results so far this season, it's difficult to say.

Victories over Newcastle and Burnley were followed by a 3-1 loss at Anfield.

Perhaps the greatest test, however, will come on Sunday afternoon when they welcome - to use the term loosely - Tottenham to the Emirates.
