Antoine Griezmann is still coming into his own at Barcelona and it will probably take him a while yet.

The France international has made three competitive appearances for Ernesto Valverde’s side, yet the only one of note came against Real Betis last weekend.

Griezmann was the undisputed star of the 5-2 win at Camp Nou, scoring two goals and assisting another in a near-faultless performance.

He certainly didn’t carry the momentum from his home bow into Saturday’s trip to Osasuna, though.

In fact, Griezmann endured one of the worst displays of his professional career so far.

The former Atletico Madrid striker touched the ball just 30 times against Osasuna - that’s fewer than any other occasion in La Liga since 2015, according to Marca.

His limited involvement wasn’t excused by him making the best of minimal chances, either.

Griezmann didn’t manage a single effort at goal throughout the 90 minutes and made fewer passes than any starting Barcelona player.

Anssumane Fati - the 16-year-old who came on at half time before netting the equaliser - registered only one less touch than the £107 million summer signing.

There’s a worrying lack of chemistry among this Barcelona side who’ve suffered their worst start to La Liga since 2008.

While the absence of the injured Lionel Messi certainly hasn’t helped, the Blaugrana’s disjointedness should be the most pressing issue in Valverde’s mind.

“We did not play well at all, we were awful,” the Barca boss said, per BBC Sport.

“They went ahead and we couldn’t get close to their area. Then we dominated the play in the second half, we took the lead and had the game in our hands but they came back at us and levelled with that absurd penalty.

“We cannot afford to let a game like this one slip, we should have been more assertive on the pitch and kept on attacking.”

Barcelona are already three points off the pace set by Athletic Bilbao and Sevilla three games in.

They can take some comfort in Real Madrid’s equally shaky start to the campaign; Los Blancos will only go above them if they avoid defeat at Villarreal on Sunday evening.
