Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has called for software giant EA Sports to bring back the fan-favourite Fight Night franchise.

The boxing series was put on indefinite hold back in March 2013. Since shifting their focus from boxing to UFC, the gaming giant has released three UFC games, and it has been mediocre at best, averaging just a 74 percent satisfaction rating. Fight Night Champion, however, has averaged just above an 86 percent favourable rating.

Hearn admitted he has held advanced talks with the publisher regarding the increasing demand for a new entry in the series.

Speaking to ThaBoxingVoice, Hearn said: “Because every time I tweet about it [Fight Night], it goes crazy!

“I wrote to EA Sports, ‘Do you realise how many questions I get about Fight Night games – let me bring it back?’

“[They respond with] ‘Oh, we’re looking at it, we’re looking at it.’

“So, EA Sports, if you’re watching, or any big-game developer, we’re here.

“Fight night, let’s go. It’s going to be number one!”

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Clarissa Shields excited fight fans when she appeared to confirm her involvement in the revival of the hugely popular sports game.

She said at the time: “So I got a call the other day that PS4 is coming out with Fight Night 4, I believe.

“They wanna have me on the game system – I’m stoked!”

However, the undefeated middleweight later retracted her statement and clarified she will be involved in Round4Round Boxing and not Fight Night.
