Alexis Sanchez made his loan move to Inter Milan last week, finally ending what can only be described as a nightmare spell at Manchester United. 

The Chilean forward arrived at Old Trafford in January 2018 and big things were expected, especially after four strong seasons with Arsenal. 

But he never got going. In one and a half seasons at United, Sanchez made just 32 Premier League appearances. He found the net just three times.  

The 30-year-old was a shadow of his former self under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he really failed to justify the huge £400,000-a-week wage he earned. 

By the end, fans were relieved to see him go on-loan to Italy and many regard Sanchez as United's worst signing of recent memory.

But, it seems that Fred could well hold that title instead. 

The midfielder has been rather anonymous at United since arriving in June 2018. But while Sanchez was taking all the flack for his disappointing performances, Fred was arguably doing even worse. 

He arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk for £53 million but certainly hasn't lived up to that blockbuster price-tag. 

The Brazilian has made just 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring a single goal.

He's not played a minute of Premier League football since April and hasn't even been named in any of Solskjaer's matchday squads so far this season. 

Considering he's not kicked a ball in a competitive game for over four months, Fred is basically being paid a wage of £120,000-per-week to train. 

We've all given Sanchez a hard time for his poor statistics at Old Trafford, but it seems he's been outdone by at least one teammate. 

If Fred doesn't turn things around this season - and that's looking unlikely at the moment - then he could well be the worst signing United have made in recent history.
