It's officially the month of FIFA 20's release.

It might seem as though gamers are getting increasingly frustrated with EA Sports' flagship series, but the excitement is always palpable when the new edition hits the shelves.

And there's plenty to be excited about this year with the return of FIFA Street, albeit newly-branded as 'Volta', and some long overdue changes to Pro Clubs.

However, no matter what EA come up with or what alterations they make, you can probably guarantee that Ultimate Team will continually emerge as the most popular game mode.

There's just something brilliant about being able to construct your own club, cobble together a team of players that don't usually share a dressing room and challenge other players online.

FIFA 20 coming soon

And Ultimate Team just wouldn't be the same if EA didn't painstakingly award every player a new rating each year, something that can be a very controversial process.

You've got to tip your hat to EA for going into extraordinary detail by giving everybody an individual number between 1 and 100 for every attribute from shooting, passing and vision.

However, regardless of the maths that goes behind it all, football fans will always look to the subsequent overall rating and see which players, in EA's humble opinion, are better than which.

Ratings leaked?

And although the official ratings haven't been confirmed for FIFA 20 quite yet, it seems as though a number of key statistics have been leaked from FIFA Ultimate Team trader @FUTDonk.

Considering they boast over 25,000 followers, a track record of successful 'leaks' and screenshots to corroborate the information, there's plenty of reasons to suggest they could be spot on.

Barcelona ratings

Ter Stegen (90), Neto (85), Semedo (82), Roberto (82), Pique (88) Umtiti (86), Lenglet (85), Alba (87), Firpo (79), Busquets (89), Arthur (84) De Jong (85), Vidal (84), Rakitic (86), Messi (94), Suarez (89), Griezmann (89), Dembele (84).

Real Madrid ratings

Courtois (88), Carvajal (85), Odriozola (80), Varane (85), Ramos (89), Marcelo (85), Mendy (80), Nacho (82), Militao (81), Kroos (88), Casemiro (87), Modric (90), Valverde (77), James (85), Isco (86), Vinicius (79), Jovic (83), Vazquez (81), Hazard (91), Benzema (87), Bale (85).

Ronaldo vs Messi?

Cristiano Ronaldo - 93

Lionel Messi - 94 (87 pace, 92 shooting, 92 passing, 96 dribbling, 39 defending, 66 physical)

Assorted player ratings

Salah (90), Alisson (90), Van Dijk (90), Sterling (88), Eriksen (88), Handanovic (88), Pogba (88), Marquinhos (86), Sandro (85), Robertson (85), Manolas (85), Biglia (83), Tagliafico (82), Rebic (80).

Right, there so much to unpack there and, first and foremost, Messi has overtaken Ronaldo to become the highest rated player on the game.

The mercurial duo had been locked together on 94, but clearly Messi has wowed the developers at EA enough to warrant a changing of the guard.

Meanwhile, there's plenty of reason to celebrate if you're a Liverpool fan with Salah, Van Dijk and Alisson all boasting overall ratings of 90 in the new game.

We'll let you peruse the rest of the ratings at your leisure and remember to take them with a pinch of salt, but don't be surprised if @FUTDonk has confirmed it all ahead of time.
