Dede Westbrook believes Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles will help him have his best season yet

Expectations for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season are pretty high.

Off the back of their disappointing 5-11 2018 season, the Jags went out and signed Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles to a four-year, $88 million contract.

Josh Allen was added with the seventh overall pick in the draft and he’s looked like the real deal in preseason.

It’s all left wide receiver Dede Westbrook, who himself big things are expected of, feeling confident ahead of the 2019 season.

“It’s gonna be a lot better than it was last year,” Westbook says in an exclusive interview with GIVEMESPORT.

“I feel like at this point right now we have all the pieces that we need to go out there and be successful and be great.”

The Jags disappointed last year. Leonard Fournette suffered an injury-hit campaign while Blake Bortles’ performances at quarterback were enough for the team to release him.

But Westbrook is optimistic about what’s to come, telling the fans to expect to compete for the playoffs.

“I can guarantee you that we’re going to have a better season than we did last year and we’re going to actually compete for the division and not only that but do our best to win the division and take you guys into the playoffs and give you that experience that we did two years ago,” the third-year receiver adds.

Westbrook was the recipient of Foles’ first touchdown pass for the Jaguars - a 10-yard pass against the Miami Dolphins in week 3 of the preseason.

And the University of Oklahoma product expects to have his best season yet with Foles under centre.

“I’m super excited. I feel like Nick Foles is going to push me over the edge, over that hump that I need to be pushed over,” Westbrook continues.

“Because obviously we all know that I have the capabilities to go out there and be successful, be great.

“I think I kinda have, this past year and my rookie year.

“But I just feel like Nick Foles is going to give me that extra leap to go and touch that thousand mark, that 1,200-yard receiver mark with eight, nine, 10 touchdowns.

“I feel like that’s the type of quarterback, if I’m going to achieve those goals, that’s who I need in my corner.”

Westbrook’s admiration for Foles is clear.

The quarterback proved his quality with the Philadelphia Eagles and his aura has already struck a chord with Westbrook.

“He’s a great guy, he’s a winner you can tell by how he walk and how he talk,” the 25-year-old adds.

“He just wants to win football games. And not only that, he’s a Super Bowl MVP.

“I don’t necessarily have to say he’s a winner when he’s won a Super Bowl. And not only that, he beat Tom Brady for God’s sake.”
