Vincent Kompany's testimonial is filled with icons like Thierry Henry and Paul Scholes

Vincent Kompany is getting his Manchester City testimonial next week - and no City player has ever deserved one more.
The Belgian arrived as one of the final signings before the Abu Dhabi takeover in 2008 and while he was seen as a very talented player, he was hardly Robinho, was he?
But Kompany would be named club captain three years later ahead of a history-making Premier League title win.
That forever cemented his status as a City legend but he captained the club to three more, as well as establishing himself as one of the best centre-backs the Premier League has seen.
And as for memorable moments, Kompany perhaps saved the best until last with his incredible winner against Leicester City last season.

It was the only goal from outside the area he ever managed for City and it proved the decisive strike in the title race last season.
And so, deservedly, Kompany gets his testimonial next week as an undoubted City legend with 11 incredibly successful years at the club.
It'll be a star-studded one, too, as a selection of former teammates takes on a Premier League best-of.
Pep Guardiola will manage the team of City legends:

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, Costel Pantilimon
Defenders: Vincent Kompany, Aleksandr Kolarov, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Kolo Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Richard Dunne, Gael Clichy
Midfielders: Nigel De Jong, Samir Nasri, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Stephen Ireland, David Silva, Dietmar Hamann, James Milner
Forwards: Craig Bellamy, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli, Benjani
While Belgium boss Roberto Martinez will manage the Premier League XI:

Goalkeepers: Edwin van der Sar, Shay Given
Defenders: Phil Neville, Gary Neville, John O'Shea, Wes Brown
Midfielders: Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs, Rafael van der Vaart, Cesc Fabregas
Forwards: Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie
It's certainly Arsenal and Manchester United-legend heavy but that's a hell of a selection. There's little doubt that this will be a fun game.
Roll on next week.
