WWE could see itself at war with more than just All Elite Wrestling in the near future.

As we all know by now, WWE and AEW will be going head-to-head on Wednesday nights as NXT will take a two-hour slot on the USA Network, going up against Tony Khan's show - the name of which is unconfirmed as of now.

But an unlikely name may be challenging Vince McMahon inside the courtroom.

Last week it was revealed that legendary wrestler Ric Flair had filed a trademark for 'The Man', which is the nickname that has been adopted by Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch within the last 12 months.

It is of course closely linked to Flair's catchphrase 'To be the man, you've got to beat the man', and it seems like this is the reason for The Nature Boy filing such a trademark.

Flair spoke to TMZ about the trademarking battle, and has actually revealed that he plans to take the issue a whole lot further due to WWE's conduct.

"When I first saw this go down in August 2018, I thought, Cool, ‘The Man’, my gimmick versus my daughter. I thought, cool," said The Nature Boy, per Cageside Seats.

"I said, ‘I’m going to make some money, it’s my trademark and they have it to use. I’ve been saying it’s since 1981.

So I got my worded statement, I sent them a text and the lawyer, who just has no respect for me whatsoever which is something I’m not going to deal with much longer, he said, ‘You’re wrong. It’s not even close.

"I said, ‘It’s not even close?’ So, boom, then I sent him another text, he didn’t respond. So I had my lawyer call him and he blew off my lawyer. This is all in 2018 or in January of 19.

"I told Hunter [Triple H], ‘Hunter, I’m going to file.’ I mean, the reason they don’t have it, it’s my understanding is that it’s because it’s too close to mine.”

Flair actually admitted that his daughter, Charlotte, was mad at him for filing for the trademark, but he explained that he just wants to protect his family financially, and that he has no beef with Becky over this matter.

Simply put, Flair wants paying for a phrase that he believes is his by WWE, but it may not be that simple in the end.

But if this goes to court, and it looks like it will do, not many people defeat Vince McMahon in a court of law, so the outcome will be very interesting indeed.
