Luis Enrique was named Spain manager after the 2018 World Cup and had a decent enough start, winning five of his first seven games.

But he officially stepped down in June this year, citing personal reasons.

Those reasons turned out to be the health of his daughter Xana who was battling bone cancer.

And tragically, Xana passed away on August 29th at the age of just nine.

Condolences from all over the football world rushed in for Enrique and his wife Elena after the news broke.

Robert Moreno, who took over as Spain boss after Enrique resigned, immediately announced that he'd step aside if the ex-Barcelona manager wanted his job back.

And in respect, Spain and Romania held a minute of silence before their EURO 2020 qualifier.

Appallingly, however, the Romania fans didn't respect it, deciding instead to boo and chant throughout.

You can see the footage below:

It's disgraceful behaviour and something that makes you question exactly what kind of person would feel the need to do that.

The Romanian coaching staff and players are visibly struck by the reaction - we can only imagine what the Spanish contingent thought of things.

In among the alarming number of racist incidents we've seen across Europe recently, this is yet another sour stain on current fan culture.

It was supposed to be a showing of solidarity for a man who has just lost his nine-year-old daughter.

But that clearly wasn't worth good enough for a worryingly-large number of Romanian fans who simply chose not to.
