FIFA 20 is dropping on September 24 and EA Sports are finally announcing the long-awaited player ratings for this year's game on Friday afternoon.

We've heard a lot of other news about the title - including big changes to career mode and Ultimate Team, plus an all-new 'Volta' game mode.

Some lucky gamers have also had the chance to test out these new features in the BETA version of the game - and that's helped to build the hype around FIFA 20.

But it's always player ratings that are more anticipated than anything else.

As football fans, we love to debate the overall rating our favourite stars have been given.

Earlier this week, EA Sports teased us with some new ICON ratings, including the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Pep Guardiola and Didier Drogba. You can read about those here.

After releasing the legend ratings, a number of Twitter accounts have leaked the top 20 players in the game - and you can read them below.

20 - Toni Kroos - 88

19 - Paul Pogba - 88

18 - Christian Eriksen - 88

17 - Leroy Sane - 88

16 - Sadio Mane - 88

15 - Raheem Sterling - 88

14 - David De Gea -89

13 - Sergio Ramos - 89

12 - Luis Suárez - 89

11 - Antoine Griezmann - 89

10 - Marc-Andre ter Stegen - 90

9 - Alisson Becker - 90

8 - Luka Modric - 90

7 - Virgil van Dijk - 90

6 - Mohamed Salah - 90

5 - Jan Oblak - 91

4 - Eden Hazard - 91

3 - Neymar - 92

2 - Cristiano Ronaldo - 93

1 - Lionel Messi - 94

There we have it. This year, Messi is the highest-rated player in FIFA, pulling ahead of Ronaldo after the pair shared the same overall last year.

The Argentine holds his 94 rating from FIFA 19, while his great rival drops. Perhaps EA losing the license to Juventus had something to do with that?

After helping Liverpool to Champions League glory, as well as winning a host of individual awards, Van Dijk has been rewarded with a 90 overall. He's the highest-rated defender in the game.

It's also interesting to note that some Manchester City stars have been rated-highly by EA Sports.

After winning the domestic treble in England, Sterling and Sane have been given 88 overalls.

Of course, not everyone will be happy with the FIFA 20 ratings. There's always some fans that complain about their favourite player being 'under-rated' or whatnot.

But to us, it seems that EA Sports have done pretty well this year.
