Video of Anthony Martial's goal vs Stoke City in 2016 is being shared on Twitter

Manchester United v Stoke City - Premier League

Earlier this month, an incredible team goal that League One side Rochdale scored went viral.

Dale put together a 16-pass move against Southend, which was finished off by Ian Henderson.

Rochdale went on to win 3-0.

It was actually the third time this season that the team have scored a goal following more than 10 passes in the build-up - a stat that only Manchester City can beat in England’s top four tiers.

But Rochdale’s superb goal has led to a rather interesting conversation.

One Man City fan sent the following tweet: “Right so f**king ROCHDALE scored this goal and you’re telling me Pep Guardiola isn’t having an influence on English football??”

The tweet has got almost 10k retweets and 60k likes.

But it also riled rivals fans.

In response, many supporters have been posting brilliant team goals scored long before Guardiola arrived on these shores.

And one Manchester United fan has posted a rather brilliant tweet of his own.

He’s picked Anthony Martial’s strike for United against Stoke in February 2016 under the guidance of…Louis van Gaal.

His tweet reads: “So United scored this goal under Louis van Gaal but we’re meant to believe that Pep Guardiola changed English football.”

In fairness, it’s an absolutely brilliant team goal.

But that was as good as it got for United under Van Gaal.

Van Gaal could only manage a fourth and fifth placed finishes during his two seasons at Old Trafford - scoring just 49 times in 38 league matches in his final campaign.

That Martial goal was probably the pick of the bunch.
