Cristiano Ronaldo ranked second on Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid athletes in June.

The Portuguese forward earned $109 million (£85.6m) in the 12 months leading up to the top 100 rankings being released.

That included $65m in salary and winnings and $44m in endorsements.

Ronaldo actually took a pay cut when he signed for Juventus in 2018 - his four-year deal is worth $64m annually.

But his earnings remain simply eye-watering.

And the 34-year-old also receives a ridiculous amount as a part of Nike’s stable of athletes.

Documents in the latest Football Leaks revelation - named ‘Football Leaks 2’ - were published by Der Spiegel magazine on Friday.

And they reveal that Ronaldo will earn €162m from his contract with the sportswear giant.

The contract, agreed in 2016, pays Ronaldo €16.2m annually for 10 years until 2026.

The deal also includes a bonus of €4m for each individual award, such as the Ballon d’Or, that the Juventus star wins.

Having won the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s The Best award in 2016 and 2017, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has received some handy bonuses from Nike.

He has had a contract with the US clothing company since 2004.

And he will see the €16.2m annual payment “for as long as he plays for a Category A club,” according to Der Spiegel.

Nike responded to the reports saying: “We do not comment on athlete contracts."

They’ve reportedly given NBA superstar LeBron James a lifetime deal worth more than $1 billion.

During an interview with GQ in 2016, James’ business partner Maverick Carter pointed a finger skywards when asked if his contract was worth $1 billion.

“It’s a fantastic deal,” Carter said.

“Nike feels great about the deal. That’s the most important thing. As great as I feel, as great as LeBron feels - Nike feels fantastic about it.

“It’s the largest deal in the history of the company. Their hope is he makes even more. And our hope is that, too, obviously.”

The bill’s on you, LeBron.
