Neymar made his long-awaited return to the pitch in a friendly between Brazil and Colombia on Friday. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar - who hasn’t played since June - managed to see out the full 90 minutes at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.Best of all, there was no indication he hasn’t a full recovery from the foot injury he suffered three months ago.Neymar set up Casemiro’s opener before grabbing a 58th-minute goal of his own to cancel out the 2-1 lead Colombia took in the first half.It was the kind of influential performance expected of the Brazilian in every game he plays, much to the delight of his former Barcelona and PSG teammate Dani Alves.

“It's always a joy to have Ney doing what he knows best, enjoying himself and doing his best for the national team,” the veteran defender told Globo, via Goal.

“We have affection for him and when he is focused his level is very high.

“Let's let him do what he can do, which is to play football. We're here to help him.”

Despite scoring his 61st international goal to move within one of second-placed Ronaldo and ever closer to Pele’s record (77), it wasn’t a faultless evening for Neymar.

Courtesy of Davinson Sanchez, the 27-year-old was reminded of the rough physical treatment defenders like to dish out as a means of unsettling him.

The pair were chasing down a ball close to the byline and although Neymar got a toe in ahead of the Tottenham centre-back, the latter made sure to send him on his way with a little nudge.

Well, truth be told, it was closer to being a full-blooded shove than a little nudge.

The contact gave Neymar no chance of keeping his feet and after hitting the turf, he slid into an advertising board at a decent rate of knots - face first, no less.

Take a look at the challenge below…

While he rather predictably took some time to get vertical again, just about anyone would need a moment to gather themselves after such a fall.

Luckily, Neymar was able to continue and avoid yet another setback after what’s been a miserable 12 months for him.

PSG will be hoping he can return to club action when they host Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes next Saturday, September 14.
