Liverpool have made some fantastic signings in recent years.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to name just a few players that have proven to be incredible pieces of business from the Reds.

But in terms of value, the free transfer of Joel Matip has got to be right up there.

Matip become Jurgen Klopp’s second signing when he arrived on a free transfer at the end of the 2015/16 season.

It was expected that Matip was being brought in to play a back-up role but the Cameroonian has been a key figure as Klopp has transformed Liverpool into genuine title contenders.

But its’s not just his performances that has seen him become something of a cult hero at Anfield.

Instead, his loveable and eccentric behaviour that seen him become a favourite on Merseyside.

And in order to pay respect to Matip, a fan has created a ‘No context Joel Matip’ Twitter account - and it’s rather brilliant.

The account was only recently set-up but it’s already got a whole bunch of hilarious videos.

From weird dancing when Liverpool won the UEFA Super Cup, getting rather emotional at giving away a free-kick and his hilarious angry walk in the Merseyside derby.

Matip is probably unintentionally the funniest player in the Premier League right now.

The 28-year-old is actually out of contract come the end of the season. However, after seemingly becoming Virgil van Dijk’s partner this season, Klopp will reportedly offer the defender a new deal in the coming weeks and months.

Joe Gomez actually started the campaign alongside Van Dijk - something which club legend Jamie Carragher couldn’t quite believe.

"I couldn’t believe Matip didn’t start the season,’ Carragher told Sky Sports. "His performances at the back end of last season were outstanding. When he’s come in I think he’s actually made a difference to Liverpool.

“For me at this moment it looks a bit more solid with Matip in there, I think he’s first choice right now."
