One of the most exciting potential fights to be made in UFC this year is now officially happening.

After defeating Anthony Pettis at UFC 241, Nate Diaz will step back into the Octagon in New York City, as he takes on Jorge Masvidal.

Masvidal himself is coming off the quickest KO in UFC history, having disposed of the highly-rated Ben Askren in just five seconds with a flying knee at UFC 239.

Now two of the most exciting fighters in the company will go one-on-one inside the famous Madison Square Garden on November 2, as confirmed by Dana White today, and it will be the main event.

It's become a must-make fight ever since 'Gamebred's flash knock-out of Askren, and it was a case of Diaz getting over the line against a tough opponent in Pettis last month - but talks didn't begin for this long ago at all.

Speaking to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, UFC President White said: "This whole thing started to materialise last night. Diaz's guys were going back and forth with us and we ended up getting it done.

"Masvidal is pumped for this fight and Diaz is pumped for this fight."

White has also stated that he intends to create a 'Baddest Mother F**ker' belt for the winner of the fight, which is certainly very unique.

There's no news on whether or not it will be an eliminator for the welterweight championship, which Kamaru Usman currently holds, but it would make sense to have the winner of this fight take him on in early 2020.

It's going to be a full five rounds inside Madison Square Garden, and inevitably someone is going to get knocked out - and UFC fans cannot wait to see it!
