Khabib Nurmagomedov managed to keep his undefeated streak and his lightweight championship at UFC 242 with an emphatic victory over Dustin Poirier in Abu Dhabi on Saturday evening.
The Eagle, who was heavy favourite going into the fight, did what he does best once he steps foot inside a cage and dominated the American from start to finish.
It didn't take long for the Russian to get the interim champion on his back on the mat, and once that dominance was established, it was pretty much plain sailing for the rest of the fight.
There was one moment of worry for Khabib when he was trapped in a guillotine choke, but given how skilful he is when it comes to submissions, it should come as no surprise that he managed to manoeuvre himself out of the hold before locking in one of his own.
Come the third round and it was visibly clear that Poirier was becoming tired, and that's when Khabib is most dangerous. No surprise then that later on in that round, the American was tapping out to the Russian, signalling the end of the fight.

UFC fans across the world weren't surprised that Khabib got the job done, and nor were they shy of telling Dana White and co. what they want next.
Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson.
Ferguson, who is 25-3, last fought back in June when he defeated Donald Cerrone, and he is always being linked with a possible fight with The Eagle.
After his own fight, Khabib was asked about potentially fighting Ferguson next, but he remained coy on his future and revealed he wants a couple of days to mull things over before making any announcements.
If Dana White wants a cash cow, surely he has to look at booking Khabib vs Ferguson in the near future!News Now - Sport News
