Floyd Mayweather, despite being retired, can’t seem to keep himself out of the news.

Now, it is believed that Mr. Money is being lined up for yet another exhibition bout, this time in China.

According to the South China Morning Post, as per Boxing Scene, the former five-division world champion could be making his fighting debut in China in 2020.

Since vacating the usual boxing scene, Mayweather has had some interesting bouts to say the least.

On New Year’s Eve, Mayweather took part in an exhibition fight in Tokyo in a quite unusual match-up with Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa.

It ended how many expected it to… with the veteran boxer embarrassing the youngster and earning a healthy paycheck by the end of the night; $9 million to be exact.

This was after he retired after his ‘UFC meets boxing’ bout with Conor McGregor back in August 2017. After toying with the Irishman for some time, the American finished off the former UFC lightweight champion in the 10th round.

Now, though, The Mission Hills Group has invited media outlets to a sudden press conference in Haikou later this month where the fight, and exact details, are expected to be announced.

Discussions on the fight are still ongoing and have yet to be finalised. A spokesman close to the fight has revealed to The Post that the deal is almost there.

He said: “The press conference will announce that Mayweather will hold a boxing match in China next year."

“We have already got the Hainan government’s temporary approval for this event.

“But everything needs to be confirmed with Floyd as well. The details are not 100 percent confirmed yet. We are in the process of negotiating details with Mayweather’s management.”

As for his opponent… well, we don’t know. Nobody does. Apparently, there is to be a recruitment campaign held in China to determine who should go toe-to-toe with one of the sport’s greatest. It will be quite the recruitment process.
