Is there a sweeter sight for Liverpool fans than seeing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back in action in the famous Red shirt.

After a scintillating first season at Anfield, Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered an awful knee injury that saw him sidelined for the entire following season.

He made a remarkable recovery and even managed to make an appearance before the end of the 2018/19 season but with an entire pre-season in his legs, he is ready to make his mark.

He is a firm fan favourite on the Kop and it is not hard to see why.

If you needed more reminding though, a lovely story has emerged of the England international’s actions in the aftermath of Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Burnley.

The Ox - as he is affectionately known - spotted a young Burnley fan sobbing on his dads’ shoulders as he wasn’t able to get close enough to get autographs from the Liverpool squad.

Ox stepped in and made sure the young lad would have an afternoon to remember.

Speaking on the wonderful moment, the father of the fan called Oxlade-Chamberlain a credit to his club.

“After the match, we were attempting to get autographs, but because Josh [the young fan] was getting bustled out, he was struggling,” he began.

“We couldn’t get where we normally stand and it was full of adults.

“He was sobbing his heart out, so I put him on my shoulders, he had been trying to get their attention by holding the ball up.

“Alex asked why Josh was crying, but he was too upset to speak.

So he took the ball and we passed him a pen and he disappeared on the coach, ten minutes later he reappeared with the ball and it was fully signed by pretty much the whole squad.

“Alex brought some players over and Josh managed to get a few photos too.

“It’s a great example of what a footballer should be and a credit to his club - even though the lad plays for Liverpool and Josh had a Burnley shirt on he still did that.”

Brilliant story.

The Ox has always had an eye for the fans and always seems to share a special bond with them wherever he goes.

If he can find his feet on the field once again, it could be a special season ahead for the midfielder.

Now, if you were to ask young Josh who his favourite Liverpool player is, there would only be one answer.

Good on you, Ox.
