Lionel Messi has spent his entire career with Barcelona.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner came through the club's famous La Masia academy and has been the star of the team since making his debut in 2004.

The Argentine is renowned by many as the greatest of all-time and his relationship with Barca is so good, that they've allowed a special clause to be written into his contract.

Messi has the option to terminate his current deal at the end of every season. Therefore, nothing but loyalty is keeping him at Camp Nou.

But according to sensational reports from Spain, Messi could well leave Spain next summer.

Mundo Deportivo claims that the forward is ready to cut ties with Barca because he's 'considering' a move to Major League Soccer.

Those rumours come despite suggestions that the La Liga champions want their captain to sign a lifetime contract.

This isn't the first time Messi has been linked with a move to MLS either.

He's previously been linked with David Beckham's Inter Miami franchise and the England legend admitted he wouldn't rule out seeing Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo in the league one day.

"Everyone has their wish list, but if you look at the way Leo and Cristiano are still playing, even at what you might think is the later stage of their careers, I don't see it ending for them," Becks said.

"They're playing at such a high level that it's hard to see them leaving the clubs they are at, but we will see. You never know what can happen in football."

Beckham's Inter Miami are due to start playing in MLS next year and if reports from Spain are to be believed, he might just be able to tempt Messi to the United States in the near future.
