The Rock praises AJ Styles for his Stone Cold Stunner sell on WWE Raw

The Rock praised AJ Styles for the way he sold a Stone Cold Stunner from Steve Austin during this week's WWE Monday Night Raw.

Styles ate not one, but two Stunners from Austin throughout Raw this week, selling both Stunners in unique ways in the middle of the ring.

The first Stunner came at the start of Raw when The Phenomenal One and The OC interrupted the Universal Championship contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman which The Texas Rattlesnake was moderating.

After a brawl then broke out, which was initiated by Stone Cold, Strowman took out Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, but Styles was able to throw Rollins to the floor outside the ring.

When the United States Champion turned around though, he ate a Stunner from Stone Cold in the middle of the ring.

The second Stunner came after Raw went off the air after Austin made his way down to the ring to celebrate with Rollins, Strowman, Cedric Alexander and The Vikings Raiders after they defeated The OC, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode in Raw's main event.

Initially, it looked like Stone Cold would make amends with Styles after Raw went off the air, as he issued praise to The Phenomenal One, but things quickly changed.

After the two had a beer toast, The Texas Rattlesnake issued another Stunner to the United States Champion in the middle of the ring.

Styles sold the first Stunner with a little scissor kick in the air while rolling around on the ring canvas, and he sold the second Stunner by spitting beer out of his mouth as he was stunned.

The Rock, who is an expert in selling the Stunner after taking so many during the Attitude Era while feuding with Austin, praised The Phenomenal One for how he sold the Stunner.

The Great One tweeted: "Yeah AJ - YOU HEAR HIM TALKIN TO YOU HILLBILLY BOY!!!! (lil’ inside attitude era joke). Real talk that Stunner back bump, flip into a scissors βœ‚οΈ sell was a thing of beauty πŸ˜‚ πŸ™ŒπŸΎ Way to bring the house down boys! πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ 🍻"

Styles wasn't happy with being referred to as a hillbilly, as he replied: "I’m a redneck Dwayne! There is a big difference."

We'll have to wait and see if this develops into something between Styles and The Rock, but that seems unlikely given The Great One's busy movie schedule.

In the meantime, The Phenomenal One is expected to defend his United States title at Clash of Champions this weekend against Alexander, but this match is yet to be booked for the show by WWE.
