Cristiano Ronaldo was at the peak of his powers once again last night on the international stage.

The Portuguese legend scored four times in the a 5-1 win away in Lithuania, taking his tally to 93 goals for his country.

He is now just 16 shy of equalling the world record for international goals and does now hold the record for goals from European players.

Given he is still scoring for fun and looks as fit as ever, there's no doubt that he will carry on until he breaks Ali Daei's record of 109 international strikes.

But one amazing statistic to come from last night concerns Ronaldo's prolificness with scoring trebles - or more.

The Juventus star has now scored 54 hat-tricks throughout his career. Yes, FIFTY-FOUR.

For most human players, the thought of scoring 54 goals is appetising.

But for Ronaldo - and Lionel Messi - achieving every goalscorer's fantasy really is becoming par for the course.

For reference, Messi currently has 51 hat-tricks for Barcelona and Argentina combined.

Ronaldo scored 44 hat-tricks for Real Madrid in all competitions, eight for Portugal and one apiece for both Juventus and Manchester United.

Not bad going, eh?

Six of Ronaldo's eight trebles for Portugal have come since he turned 30, which is pretty astonishing.

The 34-year-old is well and truly proving that age is just a number in the footballing world right now.

Ronaldo will be eyeing up more international silverware come next summer when Portugal look to defend their European Championship title.

If he can lead the Iberian nation to yet another major honour, debates about the greatest player of all-time will get very, very interesting.
