Olympic gold medal-winning captain, Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE has announced that her wife, Helen Richardson-Walsh MBE is expecting a baby.

In a statement shared on both Helen and Kate's twitter and Instagram profiles, the happy couple announced that they feel "excited and blessed to share that soon we will be three!"

Helen Richardson-Walsh, who was also a member of the Great Britain team that won gold at the 2016 Summer Olympics went on to reveal that she is "due at the end of the year and we can't wait".

The couple, who were married in 2013, made history by becoming the first same-sex married couple to win an Olympic Gold medal together in Rio 2016.

The famous final, which saw Great Britain beat the Netherlands to achieve Olympic gold, in a tie-breaking shootout, confirmed the two women as hockey legends.

From all at GiveMeSport Women, we send the happy couple our best wishes.
