Paul Scholes is one of the finest midfielders to have ever played in the Premier League.

The central midfielder’s technique was simply extraordinary. He could land a ball on a 5p coin and could strike it so pure.

You only need to read what former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had to say about Scholes at a tribute dinner for his ex-player last year to understand just how talented he was.

“He was the absolute perfect player and no matter how many great players we have had in the past at Manchester United, Paul sits in the great pantheon of those players, there is no question about that,” Ferguson said, per Goal.

“And I had read one or two bits by former players, Xavi, Iniesta, Pirlo and they all recognise him as the best English player of all time and that is some accolade that.”

The 44-year-old laced up his boots once more on Wednesday evening for Vincent Kompany’s testimonial at the Etihad Stadium.

The likes of Robin van Persie, David Silva and Sergio Aguero were all in action, but Scholes stole the show with a moment of magic.

Scholes produces sublime no-look pass

He produced an outrageous no-look pass with the outside of his right boot in the 58th minute, reminding us all that he’s still got it.

His pulled it off perfectly, finding Van Persie.

How naughty is that?!

Scholes retired from football in 2013 but he still likes to play when he can.

The 11-time Premier League winner even rocked up in the 11th tier of English football last year, playing for Royton Town in the Manchester Premier League.

Royton manager Mark Howard said, per BBC Sport: “We had eight or nine of our senior players missing and Paul said he'd be happy to help out if we were ever short as his son Arron plays for us.

"We were down to the bare bones. He's still got that magic wand and he was absolutely fantastic for us.”

Class is permanent.
