Triple H throws down the gauntlet to All Elite Wrestling before the Wednesday Night Wars start

The weeks and days are ticking down before we get the first official battle between WWE and All Elite Wrestling.

NXT may debut on the USA Network this coming Wednesday night but we will have to wait another two weeks before AEW's weekly show debuts on TNT.

Tony Khan's promotion definitely means business as it's heading to some big cities with decent-sized arenas, including some WWE use for Raw and SmackDown.

And you'd expect with the curiosity surrounding who will figure on their weekly show and what will go down that the opening episodes will be viewed live by a lot of the wrestling community.

With Raw and SmackDown hitting low two million numbers this week, that mark could also be achievable for AEW and would be seen as an early success.

Not that Triple H seems to be worried about AEW's potential high viewership, though.

Speaking to Yahoo Sports about the upcoming Wednesday Night Wars, The Game has thrown down the gauntlet to Cody Rhodes and his fellow executives, and has told them to bring their A-game to the table.

Triple H and Shawn Michaels are fully confident in NXT's abilities as they prepare to go head-to-head with AEW

"For me, it’s about putting on the best show we possibly can whether we had competition or not," said The Cerebral Assassin.

"The winner, I think, is fans. Competition brings out the best in people and I think that’s what will happen here.

"For me, the competition is with ourselves to constantly raise the bar, to be something better and I don’t just mean in-ring, I mean for the business in general, to be leaders.

“If you talk about the upstart, what they’re [AEW] going out and saying is that they’re an alternative.

All Elite Wrestling will debut on TNT two weeks after NXT comes to the USA Network

"We were that alternative five years ago. We opened the door for being an alternative, we opened the door to show people that it can be done on a bigger level and on a different basis.

As far as being the alternative, great, go put on the best show you can put out, and we’ll put out the best one we can put out.

Hunter's sidekick Shawn Michaels also believes that NXT has the best talent in the world, and they'll be looking to prove that starting this Wednesday when the underground brand arrives on the big stage.
